When planning your kitchen, this Cabinet Measurement Guide can help ensure that your cabinets fit perfectly within the space you have.
Accurate measurements are essential for us to design and price your cabinets successfully. With that in mind, here are some cabinet measurement guidelines for effective measuring:
Ceiling Height
- Measure the distance from the floor to the ceiling in inches and record it as the ceiling height. Check ceiling height in multiple locations and notate shortest and tallest measurements.
Wall Length
- Measure the total length of the wall(s) in inches and note it on the exterior of the wall. If applicable, indicate the location and size of any islands or peninsula bars.
Door and Window Placement
- Mark the walls with crosses to indicate where doors and windows begin and end. Record their dimensions (width x height) and provide a description between the marks. It’s preferable to include the casing/trim in your measurements; however, if it has not yet been installed, please specify the expected width of the trim on each side.
Cabinet Placement
- Measure and document all the available wall space for cabinets, accounting for door and window trim as well as corners.
Sink Placement
- Typically, sinks are centered under a window (if applicable). It is crucial to know the plumbing placement, so measure the distance from both sides of the plumbing to ensure it fits within the allocated space for the sink base.
Appliance Placement
- Indicate where you would like all appliances to be positioned and measure the distance to where appliances will connect to utilities in the wall or floor.
Pictures
- Often times, pictures are a good addition to include with rough drawn sketches and measurements.
Final Note
- Focus primarily on obtaining accurate measurements when using this cabinet measurement guide; the visual aspect does not need to be precise or to scale. Our design software will proportionally adjust the dimensions, facilitating easy verification and visualization of your kitchen. Accurate measurements are crucial for ordering your cabinets. Cabinets are built to order and cannot be returned.
